Compensate roll deflection for consistent calendering
Heavy nip loads in calendering and sheet processes cause rolls to bend. The FRANKLAND-Flex® design introduces a counter-deflection within the roll structure to offset this bending. By mirroring the deflection of the mating roll, it keeps the nip parallel and your sheet thickness uniform across the web.

How it works
FRANKLAND-Flex® uses a multi-layered shell and core assembly that deliberately bends in the opposite direction of the mating roll. As nip load increases, the inner shell’s engineered stiffness causes controlled reverse deflection, keeping the outer roll face parallel to the mating roll. This eliminates the need for external bending mechanisms and allows constant pressure distribution across the web.
