Ultra‑uniform cooling for demanding film production.
The Extherminator Chill Roll is our most uniform chill roll. Engineered for thin plastic films and coatings, it uses a PTFE‑lined spiral inside a double shell to maintain tight temperature tolerance across the roll face. This prevents “bleed‑through” on delicate webs and ensures consistent cooling for high‑quality products.
When to choose this roll
- When your process requires temperature uniformity within ±0.5 °C across the web.
- When producing ultra‑thin films or coatings prone to thermal variation.
- When “hot spots” and inconsistent cooling cause quality defects.
- When processing high‑value polymers where precise cooling improves clarity and strength.
- When you need a non‑stick internal surface to prevent fouling (PTFE liner).
How it works
Inside the Extherminator Chill Roll, a PTFE‑coated stainless spiral guides coolant along a carefully engineered path. The double‑shell construction allows coolant to travel in a continuous spiral from one end to the other, creating uniform dwell time and turbulence. PTFE prevents scale and contamination, while stainless steel resists corrosion. The result is a consistent temperature profile across the roll face, even at high line speeds.
Where it pays off / Applications
Ideal for plastic film extrusion, coating lines, optical films, thin packaging films and specialty laminates that demand precise cooling. It can also be used in electronics and medical film production where uniform temperature is critical.
